Yorkshire homebuilder begins ‘major’ Goole regeneration project

A Yorkshire homebuilder has begun construction on a ‘major’ regeneration project in the East Yorkshire town of Goole.

Beal Homes has started work on The Greenways, an 800-home development which the housebuilder says will be its largest ever residential development and Goole’s largest in ‘many years’.

The 73-acre site off Rawcliffe Road launched earlier this year and saw all 50 plots made available in the first phase reserved in just three weeks.

Beal has called the start of building work on The Greenways ‘fantastic news’ for Goole as it plans to invest £130 million into the ‘high-quality’ housing project over the next 12 years.

Beal Chief Executive Richard Beal said: “We’re excited to begin work on site and to start to deliver on our long-term commitment to Goole.

“This development will enhance significantly the quality, availability and choice for local families and people attracted to Goole by the area’s growth opportunities.

“The tremendous response to the launch of The Greenways showed there is significant pent-up demand for high-quality new homes, which has confirmed our confidence in Goole and its potential.”

Beal says The Greenways is set to feature a range of contemporary house types, from starter homes to executive properties.

The development will also create hundreds of jobs in Goole, either directly with Beal or with local sub-contractors and suppliers.

Infrastructure and groundworks for the development are currently being delivered, with foundations set to be laid in early July and the first bricks due to be laid in early August.

Beal is currently preparing for the next phase of the project, with The Greenways’ first residents expected to move into their new homes during the first quarter of 2021.

Beal’s construction director John Goodfellow said: “Now that we’ve begun the construction project people will see the site changing rapidly and a new community rising out of the ground.

“In the current climate this development is a major morale boost for our staff, sub-contractors and suppliers and a statement of confidence in the housing market in Goole and the wider region in which we operate.”

Goole is currently experiencing growing demand for housing as it becomes increasingly desirable as a place to live, work and invest.

The East Yorkshire town is attracting growing interest as a commuter town due to its location close to Leeds, York, Hull and Doncaster.

Focused on building homes in Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, Beal has been operating for over 50 years and has so far delivered over 75 developments.
