A housing association in Blackpool is looking forward to opening the doors to its largest development in a decade.
Muir Group Housing Association is set to welcome the first new residents to its Watson Road scheme next month.
The 44-home scheme, which is currently nearing completion, is built on the site of a former factory. The homes will be let at “affordable” rents, Muir says.
“We can’t wait to see people moving into these new homes,” said Alex Fury, the organisation’s assistant director of assets and growth.
“It’s a development we’re really proud of because not only is it the largest Muir has undertaken in the last 10 years, but it’s fulfilling an important need in Blackpool for quality, new, affordable homes.”
The scheme consists of a mix of two- and three-bedroom houses, along with two-bedroom bungalows.
Work began to redevelop the former factory site in Spring 2018 after it had stood empty for several years prior to Muir’s involvement. The homes are built by MCI Developments and benefited from a Homes England Grant.
“We’re delighted to be bringing these homes to Blackpool,” said Sam Scott, Muir’s director of operations said. “They build on our commitment to the area and we can’t wait to see new Muir residents moving in.”
