Billed as “the most sought after, the most prestigious and the longest running awards in the field of HR”, the HR Excellence Awards recognise the organisations and individuals pushing the boundaries of people strategy. The awards cover both the public and private sector, including large, multinational companies.
Chief Executive at Stockport Homes Group, Helen McHale scooped the prestigious title of ‘Most People Focused CEO’ which is particularly special because people are not nominated for it by their organisations – the award is based on independent research carried out across the sector.
Helen is a driven, intelligent professional whose accolades and achievements to date speak for themselves on a professional level. In 2018 she was named in the Most Influential People in Housing, achieved because of her business acumen, her ambition and passion for the housing sector on both a local and national level, her effectiveness at influencing, shaping and challenging policy, one example being her role in Greater Manchester Housing Providers, and her success at leading one of the most successful housing companies in the country.
Helen has always advocated that SHG deliver the best possible services to customers through having the most talented, committed and ambitious workforce. At SHG – the staff are the biggest assets.
In the year that SHG have celebrated 10 years of Best Companies, ranked as Sunday Times number 1 housing provider to work for, achieved IIP Platinum it is fitting that the Chief Executive be recognised for the innovative, empathetic and inspirational leadership she shows.
Jenny Osbourne, Chair of the Board at Stockport Homes says, “This is a fantastic achievement and totally deserved. Helen is a hugely compassionate, talented, intelligent and innovative leader – congratulations and well done from all of Team SHG’
Cllr Elise Wilson, Leader of Stockport Council, said: “This fantastic award for Helen is testament to her incredible hard work leading the dedicated team at Stockport Homes Group. The recognition from a prestigious national awards panel helps to reinforce our message that Stockport is a great place to live, work and visit. I’d like to congratulate Helen on behalf of everyone at the Stockport Council.”
