SUNDERLAND-based Gentoo Group has appointed Joanne Gordon as its new development director.
Gordon has joined from Newcastle-based housing association, Home Group, where she previously held a strategic role overseeing development opportunities across the UK.
At Gentoo, she will be responsible for the delivery of the organisation’s new £117 million affordable homes programme. This will see the organisation deliver 900 additional homes for rent in Sunderland via a mixture of new build and existing properties by 2024, making use of the £4 million surplus generated by Gentoo Homes to help subsidise the programme.
“I’m really pleased to be joining Gentoo at what is such an exciting time,” said Gordon. “I’m grateful to have been given the task of delivering the Group’s new affordable homes plan and am really looking forward to making a difference to housing supply in Sunderland.”
Nigel Wilson, Gentoo’s group chief executive, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Joanne to the team and look forward to working together to address the shortage of affordable rented homes in Sunderland.”
