NORTH West housing association Onward has launched new sales arm dedicated to shared ownership homes.
Onward Living, as the new division is called, has been established to help the organisation fulfil its ambitions to build 1,600 “affordable” homes across the region by 2023, with an emphasis on shared home ownership.
The launch was marked with an event held at Onward Living’s debut development, Clifton Gardens, which is due for completion in the summer.
The £3.6 million housing scheme on Colebrooke Road in Aigburth, Liverpool, will consist of 20 homes for shared ownership and four homes for “affordable” rent.
Other shared ownership developments in the pipeline include Sycamore Gardens, which will see 27 homes built in Great Sutton, Wirral, and Halton Court, a collection of 30 homes in Runcorn, Cheshire. More sites will be announced soon, the organisation says.
“The launch of Onward Living gives us a fantastic platform to achieve our ambition of delivering more affordable housing in the areas that need it most,” said Sandy Kelly, Onward’s head of sales.
“This is a very exciting time for shared ownership, with more new shared ownership homes due to be built in the next five years than in the past 30 years put together.
“We’re proud to be able to offer shared ownership as an option to a broad range of people, helping them to buy a quality home in a number of desirable locations.”
