ARCON Housing is to become a subsidiary of Bolton at Home from April following approval of the merger by their respective boards.
The boards’ stamp of approval followed consultation with tenants and other stakeholders. It is expected that the new partnership will help deliver 1,400 new homes in the North West by 2023.
“Our coming together gives both organisations additional expertise and resources to help our communities and will deliver new affordable homes,” said Bernard Gallagher, Arcon Housing Group’s chief executive.
“Together we can introduce these new homes quicker than we would be able to individually. It’s a partnership that will bring many mutual benefits to our customers.”
Jon Lord, group chief executive of Bolton at Home, said: “This partnership makes both organisations even stronger which will have many benefits for our tenants.
“We’d already been working closely with Arcon as part of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers group. It has knowledge and skills that complement our own, including a wealth of development expertise. This will be invaluable to our joint ambitions to build the affordable homes the region so urgently needs.”
Bolton at Home manages over 18,000 homes across the borough, investing at least £19 million annually into refurbishing existing housing stock and regeneration programmes. Arcon manages 1,200 homes across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, High Peak and Fylde.
