THREE high flyers from the world of big business, construction, and housing provision have come together to launch a new housing delivery and finance consultancy.
The Housing Delivery Consortium pools the skills and experience of founders Ray Christopher, Stephen Haig, and Sarah Daly with an ambitious notion to transform the housing sector.
Among its aims is to work with councils and local authorities to use the value of their existing assets to deliver more new homes.
As the new organisation explains it, the aim is to develop a “fully integrated” development strategy covering housing, skills and the economy. The package includes extracting “latent balance sheet value” along with the use of “risk managed capital to, it says, scale up housing delivery through the use of offsite manufacturing techniques.
Ray Christopher recently co-founded Seam Capital, following international treasury roles with Amazon and Regus. For the past 10 years he has been corporate finance director for the Hyde Housing Group, part of London’s G15 group of housing associations.
Stephen Haigh has over 30 years of experience in housing. For the past 20 years he has served as managing director for several plc and private housebuilding companies. He has also been managing director in one of the largest pan-European real estate investment businesses. Most recently, he has served as an executive director of a housing association.
Sarah Daly is an experience strategist in sustainable development and currently specialises in offsite housing-led economic development. She was director of strategic sustainability and partnerships at the not-for-profit, Sustainable Homes. Before that, she was European head of marketing for the global environmental consultants SLR.
“You would be hard-pressed the find three more passionate, ethical and experienced individuals, with a shared vision to transform every facet of housing delivery,” said Daly. “Our paths have crossed with three entirely complementary skill-sets. It was immediately apparent that we could create a more compelling development solution with a fully integrated social, economic and environmental proposition that leverage existing assets to deliver world-class homes for the future.”
The Housing Delivery Consortium says it aims to offer a collaboration of strategy, corporate finance and development expertise, along with “deep” sector knowledge and an extensive reach into offsite design and manufacturing. The consultancy says it can work on standalone projects or with inhouse teams to “augment and extend” existing skills.
