CLAIRE Morris (pictured) has joined Arcon Housing Group as its new development director.
In her new role, Morris will lead the organisation’s specialist development team to deliver new “affordable” housing.
Arcon owns and manages 1,200 homes in and around Manchester; it is currently looking to develop 272 homes over the next five years. Furthermore, the organisation says it has secured around £17 million of private finance.
Morris has led on development in social housing for nearly 30 years. She will manage Arcon’s strategic relationships with public sector funders, including Homes England.
She will also lead on Arcon’s new partnership with Bellway Homes in Salford, which will deliver 21 new family homes over the next two years for social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership.

Previously, Morris was director of development at Progress Housing Group, where she led the group’s development programme of 1,000 new homes, with a value of around £80 million.
She has an MSc in Urban Renewal & Regeneration from Salford University and was group director of development at Arena Housing Group, as well as holding senior development and consultancy roles at Places for People, Mulbury Homes and Southway Housing Trust.
